Requirements and Procedure for the Change/Conversion of Status from temporary Visitor (Tourist VISA) to Foreign Student VISA

Documentary Requirements

  1. Personal History Statement signed by the student with a 2 x 2 inch photograph recently taken – 6 copies;
  2. Proof of adequate financial support or Affidavit of Support with Bank Certificate (Must be authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the student's country of origin - with Embassy's Red Ribbon);
  3. Official Transcript of Records showing completion of a degree course (Authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the student's country – with Embassy's Red Ribbon);
  4. Police Clearance Certificate from student's country (Authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the student's country of origin – with Embassy's Red Ribbon);
  5. Birth Certificate (authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the student's country– with Embassy's Red Ribbon);
  6. Quarantine Medical Clearance Certificate by the National Quarantine Office-Manila or San Fernando City, La Union (to be done upon arrival in the Philippines) - Bring Medical records from the student's country;
  7. Xerox copy of the photo, data and stamp of the latest arrival pages of the passport of the student. The passport itself shall be presented to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration for verification.
  8. Original copy of the Certificate of Eligibility for Admission (CEA) issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for Medicine students;
  9. National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) – Exams given in April or December
  10. Recommendation Letters from two (2) former professors in college.

Steps to be followed:

  1. The student-applicant submits the requirements enumerated above to Saint Louis University.
  2. SLU endorses/submits the application to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) together with its Notice of Acceptance.
  3. SLU follows-up the visa application with the BI at least one month after application. The student will be required to pay the visa implementation and other fees.

Fees for VISA Conversion (Payable to the Bureau of Immigration):

  • Visa application fee - PhP 2,510.00 (payable upon submission of application)
  • Visa Implementation and Other fees - PhP 8,000.00 (payable after application has been approved)

Fees Payable to Saint Louis University:

  • Application Fee (Medicine) - US$ 265.00
  • One-Time Out-of-State-Fee - US$ 5,000.00
  • Tuition and other fees - PhP 61,000.00 per semester (subject to yearly increase)
  • Service Fee - PhP 1,000.00 per semester

 

Note: The student is advised to secure a 59 day tourist VISA to the Philippines
