SLUNet Dialup Connection

There are three(3) major steps in configuring the computer for dialup connection, these are the following:


1. Modem Installation
2. Setting the configuration on the Control Panel Network
3. Creating dialup-up profile.

Detailed Configuration for Dialup Connection are described below.

1. Install the Modem
- Click Start button, pointing the arrow key to Settings, then to Control Panel

- double-click on the Modems Icon under the Control Panel Window

Installing Modem

- If your modem is not yet installed, the Install New Modem window pops up otherwise skip this procedure and go to step 2
- click on NEXT button to finalize the modem installation.

2. Control Panel ( Network ) Configuration Settings


- Go to Control Panel Window and Double-click on Network

The Network Window

- Must have the Entries shown on the picture which is : x

Client for Microsoft Networks
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP



...otherwise click on Add

To Add Dialup Adapter,

- Click on Adapter
- Chose Microsoft
- Choose Dial-Up Adapter

- Click OK button

3. Dialup - Connection

a. Click on My Computer on your desktop
b. Double-click on Dial-Up Networking Icon

Make New Connection Window

a. Double-Click on Make New Connection Window
b. On the My Connection - Replace it with SLUNET1
c. Click on Next Button

....Type the Phone number you want to connect to. The following are SLUNET's Dialup Lines: (443-2075 to 443-2090)

443-2075 / 443-2076 / 443-2077 / 443-2078 / 443-2079 / 443-2080 / 443-2081 / 443-2082 / 443-2083 / 443-2084 / 443-2085 / 443-2086 / 443-2087 443-2088 / 443-2089 / 443-2090

Clicking on Next Button finalizes the initial setup.

Next,

On the Dialup-Networking Window
a. Single Click on SLUNET1 icon.
b. Go to File Menu
c. Choose Properties
( alternative: right click on slunet1 icon, choose properties )

SLUNET1 Dialup property box

a.Make sure to uncheck "Use area code and Dialing Properties"

b. Click on Server Types tabs

a. Make sure you have the following components as show above:

- PPP: Internet,Windows NT Server, Windows98
- TCP/IP is checked.

b. Click on the TCP/IP Settings Button to go to the next setting.

TCP/IP Settings:

a. click on "Specify name server addresses"
b. supply the following values:

Primary DNS : 202.78.69.4
Secondary DNS : 202.78.69.5

c. Click on Scripting Tabs to go the next setting.


Scripting:

a. click on Browse button
b. Select PPPmenu.scp
c. Click on OK button
d. Click Edit Button and add the following lines which are HIGHLIGHTED

DoLogin:

; Enter user ID
delay 1 <<----------- This is the line, add this
transmit $USERID, raw
transmit "^M"

; Send the password
delay 1 <<----------- This is the line, add this
transmit $PASSWORD, raw
transmit "^M"

; Wait for the prompt

;waitfor szPrompt <<---------- This is the line, add semi-colon (;) before the line only
note: the semi-colon is a comment field.

e. Go to File, choose exit
f. Click Yes button to Save the file
g. Click OK to finalize the setup.

To connect to the Internet. Double click on the SLUNET1 and the image below appears.

a. supply your username.
b. supply your password.
c. Click on connect button.
d. To connect to other phone number, just change the phone number.
