United Nations' Day Celebration
Last October 21, 2005, SLU-LES joined the rest of the world in celebrating the United Nations' Day (October 24). Considered as one of the most awaited activities in school, this year's celebration was made significant even more. The Social Studies Department (HEKASI) was ecstatic with the success of the short but very meaningful program scheduled at the Van den Daelen Hall that day.
Aside from the pupil-participants who did commendable performances, student-observers from the College of Education gave the audience a great performance. Likewise, some parents danced their hearts out with their kids. The celebration was not complete without asking the little ones questions related to the essence of having such a celebration and the importance of peace. The recipients of the Little Mr. and Miss UN gave the best answers which eventually won for them the said titles. A contest was also participated in by all the classes in the different grade levels wherein each class was asked to decorate their classroom to look like the country the class had chosen. Efforts of the most deserving classes in the different grade levels paid off by awarding to them the Most Creative Classroom Award. With the help of the different learning areas, simple yet relevant activities were implemented .
