SLU-LHS is Now Co-educational
The Saint Louis University Laboratory High School (SLU-LHS) is no longer an exclusive school for boys. SLU-LHS has opened its doors to female students starting this school year 2003-2004 thereby implementing the Co - Educational System in the first year level.
The entry of female students in the school is the result of the decision made by the SLU board of trustees which according to Atty. Rolando Dela Cruz, principal, was vindicated due to the significant increase of enrollment of 517 compared to 310 first year students last year.
The decision to adopt the Co-Ed system was due to the following reasons:
- Economic condition (enrollment was dropping)
- Psychological - emotional reason (elementary and college both co-ed)
- Reality that exclusivity is on the way out
With the implementation of the Co-Ed system, the name Boys' High should also be forgotten starting this school year, although the name has actually ended in 1990 when it was renamed Saint Louis University- Laboratory High School.
