UnRIC offers statistical services for undergraduate and graduate students, including, but not limited to: data interpretation and analysis. Aside from catering to the Louisian community, UnRIC also offers its statistical expertise to external clients.

The Institutional Studies and Statistical Services Officer, supported by the University Research Statisticians, provides support and guidance on statistical methods to assist students and faculty members engaged in research at Saint Louis University. The services are intended to provide low-cost, non-profit statistical to assistance researchers from all backgrounds.

We also organize seminars, workshops and activities to enable students and university personnel to participate in research with the goal produce sound results that hold up to the scrutiny of your peers in the global academic community. 

Our Services:

These services are open to all Saint Louis University researchers, including students, faculty and even external clients.
Our main services are:

  2. Reliability / Validity of Research Instruments
  3. Full Statistical Service  Package   

We can assist researchers with:

  • design of an experiment;
  • construction of a questionnaire;
  • reliability testing of the instrument;
  • formulation of the statement of the research objectives and hypotheses;
  • determination of the sample size and the most appropriate sampling technique;
  • computations using statistical tools;
  • construction of statistical tables and graphs needed in the analysis and in the presentation of results;
  • interpretation of results;
  • verification of previous computations, verification of formulas and references;
  • advice on thesis/dissertation defense; 
  • addressing other statistical/research concerns related to the client’s research study.

Full Statistical Assistance Services

Clients may opt to avail of full statistical assistance, which involves a series of consultations from start to finish of a research.

The assistance may cover all the tasks above.

Php 2,000 per research for SLU undergraduate students
(non-SLU: Php 2,200)

Php 4,500 for SLU graduate students or staff

(non-SLU: Php 5,000)

Consultation Service

Consultation refers to a formal discussion with the Research Statistical Services Officer or a University Research Statistician pertaining to specific concerns and within a duration of an hour or more.

Per hour or any portion thereof:
Php 200 for SLU undergraduate students
(non-SLU: Php 220)

Php 300 for SLU graduate students and staff
(non-SLU: Php 350)

Reliability / Validity Certificate

This service provides you with a document certifying the Reliability / Validity of your Research Instruments. This can be availed of separately or in addition to the hourly consultation or full service package.

How to avail of these services

Step 1: Review the Guidelines for Using the Service

The UnRIC  Statistical Service is open to all University researchers across faculties. The statistics service is primarily available to University internal clients, undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty. External clients may also avail of the service using the general inquiries contact information at the bottom of the page or by completing and sending the necessary parts of the appointment form.

Step 2: Requesting for an Appointment

A Statistical Service Form needs to be completed prior to an initial appointment. Clients may be required to get permission from their supervisor’s authority. To properly and effectively communicate with the service, you will need a substantial statistical background. In an ideal situation, you should seek statistical counsel at the planning and design stages of your project’s development.

Step 3: Preparing for an Appointment  

Documents needed for the first appointment:

  • The Request Form;
  • The protocol or methodology you plan to use;
  • A description of the data to be collected, or secondary data analyzed;
  • Any relevant references.

If you are at the data analysis stage, remember to prepare the data for analysis as appropriate. If you have already done some data exploration and analysis, please bring this too. All original and correct data observed or obtained should be brought to the appointment.
