Saint Louis University through the Office of Global Relations and Alumni Affairs (SLU OGRAA) hosted a collaborative meeting with a delegation from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two institutions. The visit, which took place on 18 February 2025 at the Administrative Center, J. Burgos Building, SLU Main Campus, focused on enhancing existing partnerships and developing new collaborative programs.
The UAJY delegation included key representatives: Vice-Rector for Student, Alumni, and Partnership Affairs Ir. Yosef Daryanto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Director of Partnership and Promotion Office, Dr. Ignacio Agus Putranto, M.Si.; Vice Head for Partnership Affairs, Lucia Dwi Rini Harjanti, SIP; Head of the Bachelor Program in Industrial Engineering, Ir. Twin Yoshua Raharjo Destyanto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Head of the Master Program in Industrial Engineering, Dr. Ir. Deny Ratna Yuniartha, S.T., M.T.




Representing SLU were the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Feline P. Espique, Ph.D; Dean of the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), Engr. Jeffrey Des B. Binwag; Dean of School of Nursing, Allied Health and Biological Sciences (SONHABS), Ann P. Opiña, PhD; Dean of the School of Advanced Studies (SAS), Faridah Kristi C. Wetherick, PhD; Associate Dean of (SEA), Caroline M. Bautista; and Associate Dean of the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA), Teresita D. Ignacio, PhD.
The meeting highlighted plans for student and staff mobility programs that focus on International Class Programs in Communication, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Technobiology, and the Masteral Program, which are set to run from October 2025 to June 2026. The agenda also revolved around the discussions on the upcoming UAJY Philippine Cultural Festival, which is a celebration under UAJY’s 60th anniversary that aims to celebrate cultural exchange and deepen the partnership between various institutions, including SLU.
The UAJY delegation was also given a tour of the SLU’s Museum of Igorot Cultures and Arts and the Dr. Otto Hahn Building, showcasing the university’s state-of-the-art facilities.
UAJY and SLU have established a robust partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) spanning from 2022 to 2028, which laid the foundation for the longstanding collaboration.
SLU’s initiatives with UAJY underscores its dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). By expanding opportunities for student and staff mobility, SLU continues to champion global education and cross-cultural partnerships, paving the way for a brighter future for its students and the broader academic community.
