“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'” — Luke 18:16

In collaboration with the third year philosophy major seminarians, the New Louisian Philosophical Society (NEOLOUPHIS) conducted the outreach activity “Project Kuwago: Dunong at Mangkok” of to the children of Lourdes Extension Subdivision, Barangay, Baguio City on 8 February 2026.

Under the guidance of NEOLOUPHIS adviser Mr. Nikky Garo and with the assistance of Mr. Elvis Ballacay, the event demonstrated that learning transcends the classroom and that education is shared through genuine encounters that touch the hearts of many, particularly children.

Project Kuwago tangibly expressed its privilege to serve, share, and care for children. The activity aimed to instill hope in young minds and to allow them to feel the community’s compassion, reflecting the love of God that has been present from the beginning. The presence of children brought joy, reminding them of their own childhood—curious, eager, and ever ready to explore new experiences.

The outreach initiative, “Project Kuwago: Dunong at Mangkok” reflected the Cordilleran spirit of Binnadang, which means mutual help and solidarity within the community. By coming together to serve, the team embodied this cultural value—sharing time, knowledge, and compassion without expecting anything in return.

Moreover, the outreach program directly advanced two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, it contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by extending learning beyond the classroom and nurturing curiosity, wonder, and holistic growth among children.

Second, it supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by fostering joy, play, and emotional wellness. Through compassionate engagement, the project promotes the mental, emotional, and social well-being of children, reminding the community of the importance of care, laughter, and human connection.

Together, these efforts embody the spirit of inclusive education and holistic development, aligning with global goals for a more compassionate and sustainable future. (Article by Sem. Rameces Saul Mancil, NEOLOUPHIS, Photos by Mr. Elvis Jr. Ballacay)
