The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Saint Louis University (JPIA-SLU) held “JPIA Week Detour: The Race Toward Expression and Play” on 27-28 January 2026, via online platforms. Designed to give students a meaningful break from academics, the event offered opportunities for creative expression, recreation, and social interaction. Through engaging, student-centered activities, it promoted balance, well-being, and camaraderie among participants.

The event featured two major competitions: the Mobile Legends E-Tournament and the Pubmat Meme Making Contest. Registration for both activities were conducted from 17 to 24 January 2026, ensuring wide student participation.

On 27 January 2026, the Pubmat Meme Making Contest officially commenced, with participants submitting creative entries that humorously and insightfully depicted the experiences of accounting students. These entries were published on the official JPIA Facebook page, where they generated significant online interaction through reactions, shares, and comments. The contest served as a platform for students to showcase creativity, relatability, and digital design skills while fostering a sense of shared experience within the student community.
The contest concluded with Septhczar Embre C. Madrid emerging as the Champion, followed by Florence Joyce S. Escobar as First Runner-Up, and Neesha B. Banal as Second Runner-Up. The winning entries were recognized for their originality, relevance, and strong audience engagement.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Legends E-Tournament was conducted in parallel on the same day, with the elimination rounds and semifinals held online through Discord and Mobile Legends, with Discord serving as the primary platform for coordination and communication. A total of ten teams participated in the tournament, showcasing sportsmanship, teamwork, and strategic gameplay. The matches highlighted cooperation, quick decision-making, and competitive spirit among the participants.

The tournament culminated on 28 January 2026, with the Grand Finals livestreamed on the official JPIA Facebook page, allowing students and viewers to witness the climactic matches.
Team Liquid Assets emerged as the Champion of the Mobile Legends E-Tournament. The winning team was composed of Meanard Paulo L. Villalobos, Ted Gabrielle C. Chua, Eusef D. Gulla, Aaron Cyrus Manuel, and Nicolai Gray Itliong, whose strong coordination and strategic execution led them to victory.

“JPIA Week Detour: The Race Toward Expression and Play” aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by supporting students’ holistic development beyond academic instruction. By providing recreational and creative outlets, the event encouraged mental wellness, stress relief, and work-life balance. Furthermore, the event advanced SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among students, organizers, and partners through shared participation and engagement.
Overall, the event successfully highlighted the creativity, teamwork, and versatility of JPIA students beyond the classroom. Through the Mobile Legends E-Tournament and the Pubmat Meme Making Contest, participants were able to strengthen social connections, demonstrate sportsmanship, and express individuality in a supportive environment.
