Saint Louis University participated in the 2024 Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) National Basic Education Commission (NBEC) Summit on 07-08 March 2024 at Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle, Malate, Manila.
With the theme, “Education 2030: Realities, Resiliencies, and Recommendations: A CEAP Summit on Basic Education,” the gathering delved into the pressing issues facing Basic Catholic Education in the Philippines, including the implementation of the new MATATAG Curriculum.
Amidst discussions on Education 2030 and other critical aspects, the summit provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange insights and strategies for resilience and adaptation. Through collaborative workshops and interactive sessions, participants collaboratively crafted actionable recommendations, leveraging the potential of the MATATAG Curriculum and other initiatives to address the unique challenges faced by member institutions.

Through CEAP’s invitation, Dr. Felina P. Espique, SLU Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave a lecture on “Resiliency Initiatives Towards Institutionalizing Teacher Empowerment”. The session was then moderated by Dr. Joselito C. Gutierrez, SLU Executive Assistant to the President and a Member of the CEAP-NBEC.
The participation of SLU in the CEAP NBEC Summit through Dr. Espique and Dr. Gutierrez was made possible through the endorsement of Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, SLU President and CEAP-CAR Regional Trustee. The program captured the CICM advocacy on Justice and Peace and UNSDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
