Saint Louis University’s Dean of School of Medicine, Dr. John Anthony A. Domantay, PhD., was elected as the new Treasurer of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges, Inc. (APMC), along with the Board’s President, Vice President, and succeeding board of trustees during their organizational meeting last 13 June 2024, at the APMC Head Office, Future Point Plaza 1, Panay Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City.
Executive Director of the Association, Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio, PhD, presided over the organizational meeting, with the Corporate Secretary of the Association, Atty. Diosdado G. Madrid, certifying the presence of the Quorum and recording of the proceedings. The newly elected board members were Far Eastern University’s Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) Dean Rey H. De Los Reyes as the Board’s President; University of Santo Tomas (UST) Dean Ma. Lourdes D. Maglinao as the Board’s Vice President; and SLU Dean John Anthony A. Domantay as the Board’s Treasurer.
Newly appointed trustees from West Visayas State University (WVSU), represented by Dean Victor A. Amantillo, Jr., and Centro Escolar University (CEU), represented by Dean Christine S. Tinio, spearheaded the Members’ annual meeting. Alongside them were current trustees. The newly-elected board members of the association are to serve until 31 May 2025, or until their successors in office are duly elected and qualified.
The meeting was also attended by the Association’s Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Alberto B. Roxas, and the deans of the medical departments of various universities, namely Ateneo de Manila University’s (AMU), Dean Cenon A. Alfonso; De La Salle University’s Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI), Dean Jaime L. Pacifico (DLSMHSI); and Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM), Dean Martiniano C. Zanoria.
Concluding the APMC Meeting, Dr. Arcadio congratulated all the duly re-elected officers of the association, alongside the expression of gratitude and appreciation of the re-elected officers for the positions entrusted to them by the board.
One of SLU’s valued constituents being elected as part of the Association alongside partner universities strengthens APMC’s role in revolutionizing Philippine Medical Education and exemplifies SLU’s social involvement in the practice of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) 3, 4, & 17, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, and Partnership for the Goals, through strategic cooperation and capacity building in bridging partnerships with fellow institutions and stakeholders.
