Saint Louis University (SLU) has been recognized with a “reporter” status in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR), based on the official report released on 9 October 2024. SLU is one of the top 25 universities in the Philippines that have been recognized by THE WUR.
A “reporter” status in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings acknowledges institutions that are on a growth trajectory despite not reaching the necessary benchmarks, including publications.
SLU achieving a “reporter” status signifies its active engagement in the global ranking process. This is a noteworthy milestone for the university, as it increases SLU’s visibility and strengthens its reputation on the global stage.
Times Higher Education employs 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons, which are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry, and governments. These performance indicators are divided into five key areas:
- Teaching (the learning environment)
- Research Environment (volume, income and reputation)
- Research Quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence, and research influence)
- International Outlook (staff, students and research)
- Industry (income and patents)
SLU’s active effort in working towards improving its performance to secure a ranking in future editions of the THE WUR reinforces its commitment to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education. By continuously striving for excellence in teaching, research, and international collaboration, SLU aims to provide transformative and high-quality education that empowers its students and contributes to global development.
