Demonstrating its dedication to excellence, Saint Louis University (SLU), represented by the Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance, participated in the FLAIR Masterclass Series: Upscaling Programs and Projects, Leveraging Internationalization and Futures Thinking (UPLIFT 2024) at Star Colleges, Shilan Campus, La Trinidad, on 4 to 5 November 2024.
UPLIFT 2024 aims to assess and enhance current programs and projects for better alignment with internationalization goals and boost performance in global rankings such as WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation), THE (Times Higher Education) Impact Rankings, and QS World University Rankings.
Day one featured discussions on THE Impact Rankings and WURI, with updates on methodologies and shared best practices from the participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Dr. Stephenie Busbus, SLU’s Global Relations Office Director, spoke about fostering inclusive global learning environments. Other notable topics included WURI 2025’s new categories, establishing new benchmarks in sustainability and social impact, promoting global citizenship through indigenous knowledge and cultural exchange, innovative strategies for integrating the SDGs in Higher Education, innovative support approaches for diverse student populations, and strategies for enhancing research impact.
Day two covered QS World University Rankings, where Mr. Hector Martin, Director of the Institutional Development and Quality Assurance Office, presented QS ranking improvement strategies. The other sessions included virtual lectures on launching transnational higher education programs and effectively crafting WURI entries.
A short writeshop followed, where HEI participants brainstormed potential WURI entries, culminating in presentations and evaluations of their innovation potential. The event concluded with insights on fostering partnerships and sustaining global rankings, emphasizing collaboration as the foundation for internationalization success.
