Saint Louis University (SLU) formally accepted the certificate of extension affirming its designation and roles as a Teacher Education-Center of Excellence (TEC-COE) during the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Awarding Ceremony held on 27 November 2024 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Rizal Building, DepEd Central Office, Pasig City, NCR.
Through the provisions of Republic Act No. 11713, also known as the Excellence in Teacher Education Act, Section 8 (d) mandates TEC to identify and designate Teacher Education-COEs among existing private and public TEIs for the supervision, monitoring, and regulation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). SLU was granted an extension of its designation and roles as TEC-COE effective 01 November 2024 until 30 November 2025.
The Executive Assistant to the SLU President, Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD; SLU Vice President for Academic Affairs, Feline P. Espique, PhD; and School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) Dean, Mary Pauline E. Namoca, PhD RPsy received the said certificate on behalf of the institution.
This privilege granted by TEC affirms the University’s continuous efforts in maintaining its academic excellence or pursuant to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 (UNSDG 4): Quality Education.
