The Saint Louis University Basic Education School-Laboratory Elementary Department (SLU BEdS – LED) opened its Intramurals with much enthusiasm on 17 January 2025 at the SLU Gonzaga Campus. With the theme “Strengthening a Culture of Wellness through Healthy Competition,” the event kicked off in an electrifying atmosphere, gathering students, faculty, and parents together to celebrate sportsmanship and community spirit.
The opening ceremony commenced with the Entrance of Colors followed by a solemn Doxology, and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and SLU Hymn.

The fervor of Louisian spirit then echoed through the Gonzaga Gymnasium as BEdS Principal Mr. Alejandro P. Pablico gave his welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of health and wellness in the holistic development of the young Louisians.
Mr. Pablico expressed his excitement saying that the Intrams is a way to “celebrate sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the pursuit of excellence. The event’s theme reminds us of a deeper purpose, which is to foster a balanced and healthy lifestyle – one that values wisdom, mental health, and the well-being of our young Louisians and parents…May this Intrams be a showcase of the Louisians’ talent as a community and family in healthy competition,” he encouraged.

These remarks were complemented by the encouraging message from SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD as he said, ”Today is all about fun. Whether you are competing or cheering, remember this is your opportunity. This is your chance to show what it means to be a part of the SLU community. It is not just about winning, it is also about pushing yourself, supporting one another and making memories. So, dear little ones, step up, give your best, and make this Intrams a celebration of school spirit, teamwork and good vibes.“

The program featured several commemorative moments, including the Lighting of the Torch and the Unfurling of Banners, symbolizing the spirit of competition and camaraderie. Participants took part in the Oath of Amateurism, committing to sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie throughout the games.
The excitement peaked with the cheering and cheer dance competitions among the Aqua Titans, Mighty Cardinals, and Solaris Paragons, showcasing their dynamism, creativity, and team pride.
The morning activities also included the much-anticipated presentation of Mr. and Ms. Intramurals. In the afternoon, impressive field demonstrations were held by the kindergarten to third grade pupils.
As the day progressed, certificates were awarded to winners across various events, culminating in a heartfelt word of thanks from the SLU BEdS Administration who expressed gratitude for everyone’s participation.
The intramurals at SLU BEdS-LES was more than just a series of competitions; it was an opportunity to cultivate a culture of wellness among students. The young Louisians not only enhanced their physical fitness but also learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience, while also reinforcing community ties.
