In order to better reflect the core mission of the University, Saint Louis University (SLU), during its morning rites on 27 January 2025, launched the new SLU Statements of Purpose (Vision-Mission Statement and Quality Policy Statement) and Core Values.
According to the Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance (OIDQA) Director Hector L. Martin, it was almost five years ago when the Statements of Purpose were last reviewed and revised. “These Statements of Purpose of the University served as the anchor of the remaining two years of SLU’s Strategic Plan of 2017-2022 and the five-year Strategic Plan of 2022-2027,” he said.
The OIDQA Director added that the launch came after a cycle of process that included consultation with stakeholders through survey and feedback mechanisms; consolidation and review by the OIDQA and the University Instruction and Development Committee (UIDC); and the three-phase review process by the SLU Management team led by University President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD.
Finally, on 23 November 2024, the SLU Board of Trustees approved the new Statements of Purpose and Core Values.
