The Fr. Joseph Van den Daelen CICM, CCA Theater transcended with energy and passion as Saint Louis University (SLU) once again transformed into a vibrant stage for the 2025 Dance Festival. Louisians converged, unleashing a dazzling display and solidifying the institution’s commitment to artistic excellence.
The SLU Center for Culture and Arts (CCA) proudly orchestrated this annual spectacle, a celebration of dance held on 18 March 2025. From elementary pupils to college seniors, students unleashed their artistic prowess across a spectrum of dance styles. By promoting arts education (SDG 4, Quality Education) and fostering creativity, this week’s events ensure that students have access to enriching experiences that cultivate their talents.
Mr. Sherwin Santiago, Chairman of the SLU Dance Festival, Trainers, and Choreographer of the SLU Dance Troupe, warmly welcomes the participants. “Dance is so much more than just a form of expression, it is a celebration of who we are, where we come from, and where we are headed,” he said, emphasizing how this form of art nestles our stories.

The festival commenced with an invocation, followed by the Philippine National Anthem, and an opening number. The distinguished panel of judges included Mr. Winchester Lopez, Chairperson for Philippine Folk Dance and Contemporary Dance Category; Ms. Mycs Villoso, Chairperson for Dance Duet and Hip Hop Category; and Mr. Amir Abdalla, Chairperson for Latin Formation Category.
The Dance Festival featured a diverse range of categories: Philippine Folk Dance, Contemporary Dance, Dance Duet, Latin Formation, and Hip Hop.
The excitement continued as Tanghalang SLU graced the stage with a special intermission number, providing a glimpse of their upcoming production, “Ibong Adarna”.
Together in the spirit of art and grace, the participants dance in unison for the “Alagad ng Sining” finale dance, moments before the much awaited awarding ceremony.
