Saint Louis University (SLU) has been recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as an awardee at the prestigious “Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Awards. The ceremony, scheduled for 2 April 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, will take place at the Manila Hotel, located at 1 Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila.
This accolade underscores SLU’S unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards in pre-service teacher education programs. The EQUATE Award acknowledges the university’s consistent adherence to CHED’s standards, successful program accreditation, and outstanding performance in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).


In a field of 1,553 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) nationwide, SLU stands among 120 awardees in both elementary and secondary level, a testament to its exceptional quality. Notably, fellow CICM schools, University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) and Saint Mary’s University (SMU), also received this honor, underscoring the collective excellence within the CICM educational network.
SLU remains to be a Center of Excellence for Teacher Education as revealed by the Teacher Education Council, extending the university’s role as the Teacher Education-Center of Excellence for an additional year, from 1 November 2024 to 30 November 2025. Furthermore, the university’s faculty and administration have demonstrated a steadfast dedication to excellence, ranking 7th in the September 2024 Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers in the category, “With 100-299 examinees and with at least 90% passing rate- Secondary Level”. This achievement reinforces SLU’s position as a leading institution in teacher education, contributing significantly to the advancement of quality education in the Philippines.
The recognition of Saint Louis University with the EQUATE Award directly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably SDG 4: Quality Education. By ensuring high-quality pre-service teacher education programs, SLU is contributing to the development of competent educators who will, in turn, provide quality education to future generations. This directly supports the goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
