Saint Louis University (SLU) was honored as one of the recipients of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) Circle of Collaborators Award, recognized on 24 June 2025 at the STARBOOKS Stakeholders’ Appreciation Day held at Kalayaan Hall, SM Aura, Taguig City.
With the theme “STARBOOKS: Celebrating Full Circle in Innovation, Learning, and Collaboration,” the event celebrated the collective achievements, resilience, and partnership that drive the STARBOOKS community forward.
The Circle of Collaborators award honors SLU’s significant contribution to advancing science, technology, and innovation (STI) information through the STARBOOKS project, helping bring accessible digital knowledge resources to its community. This follows the university’s earlier recognition as among the recipients of the DOST STARBOOKS Strongest Partners Award in 2024, highlighting its consistent commitment to assisting other regional private and Catholic schools’ development in science and technology.
It is to be noted that DOST Benguet-Cordillera Administrative Region was also recognized for installing 165 STARBOOKS sites for the period 2011-2024, which underscores a strong regional partnership in expanding access to STI information.
Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, SLU continues to champion initiatives that empower learners and promote scientific literacy in the region. This recognition affirms the university’s vital role in the national effort to enhance access to quality ST&I information, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 17 ( Partnerships for the Goals).
