The University Instruction Development Committee (UIDC) of Saint Louis University (SLU) conducted a kick-off meeting with the deans, associate deans, department heads, and graduate program coordinators on 22 August 2025 at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, Diego Silang Building, SLU Main Campus. The activity aimed to ensure that every unit in each school is updated with the latest plans, targets, and expectations at the start of the academic year providing a sharper focus and a unified direction for academic operations.
In his welcome address, UIDC Chair Engr. Jeffrey Des B. Binwag stressed that the department heads play a crucial role in operational management since they do frontline management.
The meeting included three sessions. SLU Vice President for Academic Affairs, Felina P. Espique, PhD focused on the interface of instruction, research, and extension. She highlighted the trifocal function of universities as per Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Standards, Institutional Sustainability Assessment, Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) Standards, and the SLU Business Structure Process.



Engr. Binwag, on the other hand, presented measuring outcomes while Mr. Hector L. Martin, Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance (OIDQA) Director, highlighted the SLU Educational Organization Management System (EOMS) using the Plan-Do-Check-Act principle.
This initiative is aligned with the University’s Strategic Goal 2, Excellence and Quality in CICM Catholic Education and with the Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education. (Article and Photos by UIDC)
