Saint Louis University (SLU), through the Office of Global Relations, Alumni Affairs, and Scholarship Programs (OGRAASP) and the University Registrar’s Office (URO), conducted a general orientation for international students on 29 August 2025 at the AVR, Msgr. Charles Vath Library Building, SLU main campus.
Titled “Campus Life Kickstart,” the event served as an avenue for students to discover campus life and student support services, learn practical tips for adapting to a new environment, gain important insights on immigration matters, and establish friendships among peers across cultures.
The program began with a welcome message from Executive Assistant to the SLU President, Prof. Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD, who encouraged the international students to bring their unique perspectives, cultures, and talents that enrich the diversity and vibrancy of SLU. “We are committed to supporting your success—both academically and personally—throughout your stay. This orientation is held to help you understand the important guidelines, responsibilities, and expectations to follow as a student residing in the Philippines. We want you to feel well-informed and confident in navigating life as an international student in SLU,” he said.

Shortly after, a briefing session by the Bureau of Immigration of Baguio City was held, providing essential information on immigration processes specifically for international students. A fireside chat then offered an engaging opportunity to share experiences and ask questions, complemented by an interactive break to foster connections.

Additionally, membership in the International Students Association was opened followed by the election of the association’s new officers:
- Hein Thuzar Naing – President
- Lyndsay Avy E. Malibiran – Vice President
- Raizel Mae S. Bahingawan – Secretary
- Soaloon, Nathan – Treasurer
- Raiha Kayani – Auditor
- Zyan Maravilla – Public Relations Officer
- Nedson Uligan – Public Relations Officer
- Nicole Shimokawa- Public Relations Officer
The general orientation concluded with the closing remarks by Mr. Joshua Madongit, Internationalization Coordinator, OGRAASP.
