On 11 October 2025, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants of Saint Louis University (JPIA-SLU) successfully held its General Assembly titled “Avisala: Ang Unang Pagtitipon” at the Devesse AVR and Desmedt Oval of the Maryheights Campus. The Encantadia-themed General Assembly has brought together over 200 student members for a full day of activities to nurture academic excellence, strengthen camaraderie, and promote leadership development. The program was thoughtfully structured to engage participants in meaningful and enjoyable experiences, from the opening remarks to the closing ceremonies in the late afternoon.
The day began with registration and an opening ceremony, followed by interactive segments, including group gatherings, icebreakers, interviews, and musical performances from officers and the Rated Production Guild (RPG) band, Project Blue Book. The program is complemented by competitive activities such as the chant battle and “Sang’gRace” games, which encourage teamwork and school spirit. Leadership and the organization’s core values were emphasized through the formal turnover of officers and the introduction of new leaders, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to transparency and continuity. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony, closing remarks, and a photo opportunity that captured the unity and enthusiasm of the participants.

Beyond its social and academic objectives, the General Assembly reflected the CICM’s advocacy of the Integrity of Creation. JPIA-SLU demonstrated environmental responsibility by incorporating sustainable practices into the event’s logistics. Materials used included reusable lanyards, recyclable paper products, and minimal plastic packaging. Waste management was prioritized by providing large trash bags and a scheduled cleanup, ensuring the venue was left in good condition. These efforts underscored the organization’s commitment to ecological stewardship and responsible consumption, aligning with the CICM mission to care for creation.
In addition to supporting institutional values, the event contributed meaningfully to several Sustainable Development Goals. It advanced SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, by providing a safe and inclusive space for students to engage in physical, social, and recreational activities that promote mental wellness and emotional resilience. The interactive games and performances offered opportunities for relaxation and connection, which are essential for holistic student development. The assembly also supported SDG 4 – Quality Education, by introducing students to the organization’s academic initiatives and leadership programs. The participants are empowered to pursue excellence in their studies and future careers through networking and collaboration. Furthermore, the event aligned with SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by fostering democratic participation and institutional transparency. The turnover of officers and the peaceful transition of leadership roles emphasized accountability and inclusivity, strengthening the organization’s internal governance.
Ultimately, “Avisala: Ang Unang Pagtitipon” served as a platform for achieving organizational goals and, more importantly, a much-needed space for accountancy students to unwind, reconnect, and celebrate their shared journey. Amid academic pressures and responsibilities, the assembly offered a refreshing pause—an opportunity to laugh, play, and be present with peers. It reminded the participants that growth is found in classrooms and books and moments of joy, unity, and genuine human connection. (Article and Photos from SLU-JPIA)
