Saint Louis University (SLU) proudly announces that Executive Assistant to the SLU President, Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD, has been appointed as one of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Assessors. This appointment was publicly noted in December 2024 following his participation in the AUN-QA International Conference held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
AUN-QA Assessors play a crucial role in evaluating higher education programs against the standards set by AUN’s quality assurance framework, which aims to uplift academic excellence across ASEAN member universities.
The AUN-QA system provides a rigorous assessment model focusing on curriculum quality, teaching effectiveness, research contributions, and institutional governance.
SLU’s journey with AUN-QA began with its acceptance as an AUN-QA Associate Member in June 2023, a milestone that opened doors for international collaboration and recognition.
The SLU Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance (OIDQA), led by OIDQA Director Mr. Hector L. Martin has been instrumental in steering SLU’s quality assurance initiatives and AUN-QA accreditation efforts. Both Dr. Gutierrez and Mr. Martin have actively represented SLU in various AUN-QA conferences and training, building the university’s capacity for international program assessment.
In line with SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD’s vision, SLU aims to enhance its global academic visibility and contribute significantly to the international higher education community through proactive AUN-QA involvement.
This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and mirrors the CICM advocacies of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation, underscoring SLU’s commitment to transformative quality education and social responsibility.
