Saint Louis University, through the professors from the School of Education and Liberal Arts (STELA), Prof. Teresita Ignacio, PhD, STELA Assistant Dean, and Prof. Maureen Jane Bondoc, PhD, participated in the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Writeshop to Identify and Designate Teacher Education Centers of Excellence held in Linden Suites, Pasig City, Manila from 22 July to 25 July, 2025.
Organized by TEC and spearheaded by TEC Executive Director Jennie V. Jocson, PhD with support from the Director of the Quality Pre-Service Teacher Education Office, Angelito R. Cortez, Jr., PhD and the TEC Secretariat, the program is aligned with national initiatives that pursue a good and well-founded structure for Teacher Education Institution (TEI) evaluation.
This event also aimed to uplift innovation, elevate teacher education nationwide, and encourage regional mentoring networks. The workshop also highlighted the need for institutions to ensure performance in instruction, research, and service obtaining the Center of Excellence (COE) designation.
SLU’s participation contributed to promote the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) namely: SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
