Upholding the global vision of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 partnerships for the goals, encouraging private and civil society partnerships, ten educators from the Saint Louis University Basic Education School – Laboratory Elementary Department (SLU BEdS LED) have stepped onto the national stage of the in-service training (INSET).

The elementary teachers successfully completed the rigorous three-day “Training of Trainers (Phase 2)” for the 2025 INSET for K-6 Teachers. The event, organized by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), was held from 14-16 March 2025, at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Malugay, Makati City.

Endorsed by SLU Principal Mr. Alejandro P. Pablico, the educators were selected by PEAC to join the elite pool of trainers tasked with preparing teachers nationwide to implement the revised K–12 curriculum.
Gina Montalan, PhD, the PEAC Training of Trainers consultant, led the intensive three-day program. The training began with a comprehensive Day 1 session covering the framework of the 2025 K–6 Teachers’ INSET and the design of the training modules, followed by workshop-write shops for developing curriculum maps and learning plans. Day 2 involved the presentation and critique of outputs categorized by key educational stages, while Day 3 focused on finalizing the training materials.

Following the program’s conclusion, the SLU educators were immediately deployed to facilitate training sessions across the Philippines. They are set to lead 17 in-person and 3 online training sessions for teachers in various locations, including Regions 1, 4-B, 6, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
This engagement underscores SLU’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its mission to shape quality education beyond its own campus. Following the training, the group was in high spirits, ready to share their expertise with peers across the nation. (Article by Ruth Ann U. Melis | Photos by SLU BEdS LED and PEAC)
