The SLU Association of Geodetic Engineering Students (SLU-AGES) concluded their successful seminar on 25 November 2025 at the 5th floor, SIRIB Center, Otto Hahn Building. Titled “The Advancing Knowledge and Xcellence in Infrastructure & Surveying” (AkXIS), the seminar was an interactive and educational program conducted in partnership with Topcon Positioning Asia, particularly Engr. Andrei Corpus, an SLU-AGES alumnus. Together with AGES assistance, the. program featured advanced surveying instruments along with hands-on demonstrations to experience its capabilities firsthand. With 50 slots available, this seminar opened to all Geodetic and Civil Engineering Students.
The program consisted of various phases, including talks by experienced industry professionals, live demonstrations of the new surveying instruments, and a Q&A session. With an objective to combine learning, practical experience, and technological immersion by giving participants valuable insights into modern surveying methods, the students were further introduced to cutting-edge instruments such as the LN-60/160 Series Layout Navigator and ESN-100 Scanning Navigator, exploring how the instrument operates, from setup to actual data collection, simulating fieldwork tasks the surveyors handled daily. This program comes along with a snack and drinks, which were provided during the break in the midst of the program.
These objectives align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 16–Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17–Partnership for the Goals, by fostering a sense of responsibility to help create a fair and peaceful society in their future work.
Overall, through the collaborative efforts of AGES and Topcon Positioning Asia, the event proved to be an enriching and impactful experience that strengthened students’ skills and deepened their appreciation for the evolving field of surveying. The association expresses its sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the event’s success, especially to Topcon Positioning Asia, Engr. Andrei Corpus, AGES Officers, and the participants for their exceptional contribution and dedication in ensuring the smooth execution of the drive. (Article and Photos by SLU AGES)
