On 06 March 2026, Saint Louis University – Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU-SHMC) formally opened its new Finance Office located on the second floor of the SLU-SHMC Medical Arts Parking Building.

The ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, SLU President, along with SLU Vice President of Administration, Atty. Shellah Yzanne P. Merced; Vice President for Finance Roberto M. Arguelles, PhD; Hospital Administrator Dr. Myrna Morallos-Espiritu; Parochial Vicar and Hospital Chaplain of SLU-SHMC, Rev. Fr. Emanuel Enjang Pranatal; and Head Chief of Clinics and Medical Professional Service, Dr. Jason Roy Bacani.

Fr. Sales conveyed the essence of why the office spaces were needed and how they are envisioned to usher more and better services. He shared, “You know, a few weeks ago, we were thinking about putting up a little space for the finance department because that is really what we needed. But the little space became bigger and bigger…”

The SLU-SHMC Finance Office houses clinical offices and finance offices. The offices under the Clinical Department provide spaces for the Pediatrics Department, Surgery Department, and Medicine Department. Next to the Clinical Department are the offices for the Accounting Section, Claims Processor Section, and Credit and Collection Services. The office for the Medical Social Service can also be found next to the entrance of the Finance Office.

The SLU-SHMC and its continued expansion serve as tangible proof of the University’s care for the community. The opening of the Finance Office is anchored on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Decent work and economic growth), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), and 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions).
