To show their dedication on providing quality Catholic education and supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), eight National Trainers from the Saint Louis University (SLU) Basic Education School – Laboratory Elementary Department (BEdS-LED) took part in a four-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for the 2026 In-Service Training (INSET) for K–6 teachers. The training, conducted by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), was held from 5 to 8 March 2026, at the Quest Plus Conference Center in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The second phase of the Training of Trainers (TOT) played a vital role in the collaborative preparation for the 2026 INSET, centering on the theme “Improving K–6 Teaching with a Standards-Based Curriculum, Matching Assessments, and Evidence-Based Teaching Methods.” This initiative highlights PEAC’s continued efforts to enhance teaching quality and learner outcomes, in line with global and national goals for inclusive and equitable education.
Representing SLU BEdS-LED were Mrs. Mary-Ann O. Sagun (Kindergarten), Mrs. Cristalyn May C. Trinidad, Mrs. Leah May B. Linomta, Mrs. Fatima Joy V. Guimbaolibot, and Ms. Diane Dumagay (Key Stage 1); and Mrs. Ruth Ann U. Melis, Mrs. Aimee B. Awas, and Mrs. Anabelinda V. Lagleva (Key Stage 2).
Throughout the training, participants engaged in collaborative sessions to develop and refine training materials, curriculum maps, and lesson exemplars. With guidance from TOT Consultant Dr. Ryan Gallego, the program included practice sessions and teaching demonstrations that were assessed using the K–6 INSET tools and the 2025 PEAC Standards-Based Quality Assessment Instrument (SQAI). These activities ensured that instructional practices remain responsive, data-driven, and aligned with standards of quality education.
The program also included updates from PEAC Executive Director Doris Fernandez Ferrer, PhD on the organization’s strategic directions and the evolving needs of the Philippine education sector. Her insights reinforced the importance of continuous professional development for educators as a key driver in sustaining quality private education.
By taking part in the TOT, SLU BEdS-LED educators demonstrate their commitment to improving teaching quality and creating valuable learning experiences, which help achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4, which supports education that is accessible, inclusive, and of high quality for everyone.
