Saint Louis University’s (SLU) pursuit for quality education was heightened through the reappointment of SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD as the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines – Cordillera Administrative Region’s (CEAP-CAR) Regional Trustee in January 2024. Fr. Sales affirms his longstanding service since his first appointment on 11 January 2023.
Fr. Sales represents CAR through its ongoing journey for transformation of education through CEAP’s strategic direction for the next three years namely: Educational Leadership and Policy Influence, Organizational Development and Governance, Advocacy and Formation, Systemic Support and Capacity Building, and Community Engagement and Impact Assessment. Though this established goals, Fr. Sales as the Regional Trustee bridges the strengthened collaboration of the 48 Catholic schools across the Cordillera Administrative Region under the mission to enrich Catholic practices and positively influence the transformative education and society in the Philippines.
CEAP is a non-stock, non-profit organization that is commissioned to advance higher education with the objective “the total development of the human person,” by way of norm of the Catholic Church. It aims to consistently align with national development goals. The CEAP is represented in the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), Private Education Assistance Committee – Fund for Assistance to Private Education (PEAC-FAPE) and strives to be a beacon of commitment and collaboration of regional nongovernment organisations in identifying problems and challenges in social, political, moral, and other critical issues based on consultations with different regions to execute collective action.
As a catalyst for enhanced higher education, SLU assists in closing gaps between developing strategies and maintaining quality education. Alongside the initiative of the Fr. Sales being the focal person for innovation and transformative education, SLU banks on its achievements as the premier Catholic educational institution in the northern Philippines in tune with its motto, “Sapientia Aedificat” — Wisdom builds.
This steady involvement reinforces SLU’s mission in abiding by the CICM Advocacies namely: Peace, Justice, and Dialogue in connection with targeted Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (SDG 4), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
