The 2022 Mountain Engineering Summit entitled “Navigating the Apex of Mountain Resources through Science and Technology” was held on November 28, 2022, at Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City. The event was hosted by the DOST-CAR in partnership with DOST PCIEERD. It showcased various engineering-related technologies directly attuned to the needs of the Cordillera region.
Project 2 led by Saint Louis University under the DOST NICER program launched the Cableway for Agricultural Resource Transport System (CARTS) on November 29 located in Bauko, Mountain Province. Many Cordilleran farmers experience 40-60% post-harvest losses due to the manual handling of produce. The innovation will not only ease the farmers’ drudgery but also ensure a better quality of farm outputs specifically the Towadan-Bito Farmers’ Cooperative.
