In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Saint Louis University (SLU) Guidance Center facilitated a forum on romantic relationships entitled, “Establishing and Maintaining Healthy Romantic Relationships,” held at SLU Residence Hall-Main Campus on 15 February 2023 and at SLU Residence Hall-Maryheights Campus on 16 February 2023.
The participants of the forum were dorm interns while the school counselors were the facilitators. Centering on the discussion of our inherent desire to be close to other people, the activity provided an opportunity to ask professionals about romantic relationships. The forum provided constructive methods and mindsets that aid students in building loving and supportive romantic relationships, as well as that can protect themselves from potentially unhealthy and abusive romantic relationships.
As the activity raises awareness on healthy romantic relationships among students, the CICM advocacy on Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation was addressed, as well as SDG Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and the CEAP JEEPGY value of Youth Empowerment.
