Can artificial intelligence (AI) transform higher education? This was the central theme in the Ge4 Global Education Summit 2023 held in De La Salle University Manila Campus on 15 to 17 May 2023.
Saint Louis University (SLU) joined delegates from higher educational institutions from across the Philippines and abroad in panel discussions, keynote addresses, breakout sessions, and a masterclass delivered in-person by esteemed resource speakers from the National University of Singapore (NUS), De La Salle University (DLSU), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), University of Melbourne (UM), and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Among the topics discussed were: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence to the Future of Learning and Internationalization, Innovative Entrepreneurship: Building Students’ Global Competency, and Masterclass on Strategic Global Relations and Sustainable Partnership. Other highlights of the event included a special recital performance by world renowned pianist, Dr. Raul M. Sunico, a campus tour of the DLSU Laguna Campus, and a cultural immersion at Amadeo Artisano Coffee Farm in Cavite.
In the introduction of new members to the Ge4 Network Board headed by its president, Isabella Dufour-Baumgartner, SLU presented a snapshot of its campus, its academic programs, and its internationalization ventures. Other presenters were MSU-IIT and the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) of Indonesia.Ge4 Network (Global Education: Exchanges for Engineers and Entrepreneurs, ge4network.org) is an international non-profit network of universities established in 1996 working independently to connect academic engineering and management institutions worldwide. Of its thirty-one active member universities from Asia, Europe, and Latin America, three are from the Philippines, namely: DLSU, MSU-IIT, and SLU.
