American Corner Baguio and the Saint Louis University United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Center (SLU-UNSDG Center) spearheaded the conduct of an English Language Enrichment Session at the Audio-Visual Room of the Msgr. Charles Vath Library Building, SLU on 18 October 2023 to empower and equip educators with innovative teaching strategies.
Facilitated by English Language Fellow Ms. Holly Andrews, the session aimed to enhance classroom activities and promote collaborative teaching strategies to foster a stronger learning community.
The learning sessions empowered in-service and pre-service English teachers from Baguio and Benguet, and included knowledge-sharing about international language education opportunities. Participants were given a toolkit of resources, activities, and games to enhance their classroom teaching methods. They were engaged with the learning content through interactive discussions, activities, and games.
The highlight of the event was the insightful presentation by Prof. Andrews, in which she shared her extensive experience being part of the English Language Fellow Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. She emphasized the program’s mission to foster mutual understanding, promote English language learning, and enhance English teaching capacity abroad.
American Corner Baguio Gives Info Session on “Education USA”
Participants were encouraged to gain international experience and learn about different cultures through projects sponsored by U.S. embassies. In line with this, American Corner Baguio Coordinator, Mrs. Michelle Diego Ambloza, introduced the services, resources, programs, and activities offered by American Corner Baguio. Additionally, she shared pertinent information about “Education USA” and provided participants with insights into “5 Steps to U.S. Study”, creating awareness of the educational opportunities available through U.S. institutions. This info session added a valuable dimension to the session, opening doors for global opportunities.
