In a concerted effort to celebrate and promote the rich indigenous cultures of the Cordillera region, Saint Louis University (SLU) organized a free training workshop on Cordillera music and dances. This workshop, held on 21 October 2023 at the Prince Bernhard Gym, welcomed Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) coordinators in public and private schools throughout Baguio City.

The focus of this educational event was the “bendian/bindiyan,” an Ibaloy community dance known for its vibrant and rhythmic movements. The workshop was jointly facilitated by the SLU Museum of Igorot Cultures and Arts and the SLU Cordillera Cultural Performing Group Alumni Association, both dedicated to preserving and nurturing the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera people.
Aimed at providing educators and coordinators with a deeper understanding of the region’s music and dances, this training workshop represents a significant step towards fostering advocacy for the region’s authentic cultural traditions.
