The battle of accounting prowesses commenced at the Hotel Supreme Plaza, Baguio City, as the 22nd Regional Mid-Year Convention went full throttle on 8-10 January 2024.
The event, hosted by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Region 1 and Cordillera Administrative Region Council (NFJPIA-R1CAR), gathered students from various universities and higher education institutions to showcase their academic acuity and engage in competitive activities.
Under the support of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Saint Louis University, and the Department of Accountancy, Business Laws, and Taxation, participants from the School of Accountancy, Management, Computing, and Information Studies (SAMCIS) exhibited outstanding performance and clinched several awards across different categories. Fourteen third and fourth-year BS Accountancy students represented the university in various academic competitions.
Notable Louisians continue to shine with their achievements as Jun II M. Macario secured the second runner-up spot in CAT Cup 3 – Management Services. Meanwhile, Trisha Mae E. Pagar and Kahlil Mahatma L. Cabal bagged fourth runner-ups in CAT Cup 5 – Auditing and CAT Cup 2 – Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting, respectively. Erika Emanuelle I. Domingo also earned recognition, ranking as the sixth runner-up in CAT Cup 6 – Taxation Category.
These accomplished students are set to compete in the upcoming National Mid-Year Convention scheduled for 17-20 February 2024, representing both the JPIA-SLU local chapter and NFJPIA-R1CAR on a national stage. In addition to these individual awards, a group of Louisian participants excelled in the Tax Case Competition. Securing the third spot, Hazel Grail L. Aliba, Carl Justine E. Balagbagan, Adrian Clark S. Delos Santos, Hollie Everette N. Kiwas, and Lander B. Maramag showcased their skills and analytical abilities in the challenging competition, showcasing their mastery of taxation.
The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – SLU Chapter expresses its commitment to furthering networking, skills development, and professional growth opportunities for its members. The organization envisions enhancing members’ skills, fostering teamwork, and showcasing the capabilities of the Louisian brand on both national and international platforms.
