The 15th Eurasia Forum for Social Workers, held in the vibrant Province of Chonburi, Thailand, came to a close on 22 March 2024, after three days of insightful discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. The event, which brought together social work professionals, academics, and policymakers from across the Eurasian region, aimed to explore innovative approaches to addressing social challenges and promoting sustainable development.

Themed “BUEN VIVIR: Shared future for transformative change from the perspective of social work in Eurasia, participants engaged through field visits to Chonburi’s Child Protection and Development Center, Human Help Network Foundation, and Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities.
One of the highlights of the forum was the discussion of Dr. Annamia Campanini on Global Social Work education. Dr. Campanini emphasized the importance of upholding the Global Standard of Social Work Education. She said that social work curriculum development must be aligned towards internationalization, indiginization, as well as the practice of social work to include social justice.

Another interesting topic presented was on Green Social Work as part of Environmental Justice. Professor Gnanaraj Soosai Mary, called for greater collaboration among stakeholders and urged governments to prioritize investments in social welfare programs.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to attend interactive research presentations and panel discussions led by leading experts in the field. Topics ranged from Social Work Innovation, Social Work and Sustainability, Social Work and Social Change, reflecting the diverse interests and expertise of the participants.
In addition to formal sessions, the forum provided a platform for networking and collaboration. Attendees exchanged contact information, formed partnerships, and laid the groundwork for future collaborative projects. The sense of camaraderie and shared purpose was palpable, as participants united in their commitment to creating a more just and equitable society.
Reflecting on the success of the forum, Dr. Antonina Dashkina, President of Eurasia Forum of Social Workers expressed her gratitude to all participants and sponsors for their contributions. She underscored the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in addressing the complex social challenges facing the Eurasian region.

In conversations with delegates from various universities and organizations, there was a mutual interest in fostering collaboration and exchange programs to enhance the global perspective of social work education. The possibility of student exchanges, joint research projects, and faculty development initiatives aimed at enriching the educational experience and promoting cross-cultural understanding. As the curtains closed on the 15th Eurasia Forum for Social Workers, participants departed with renewed inspiration and determination to drive positive change in their communities.
