The Catholic Central School of Tabaco, Albay, Inc., led by Rev. Fr. Augusto O. Abril, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Saint Louis University Basic Education School (SLU BEdS) High School campus on 19 June 2024. This initiative, attended by school administrators, faculty members, and support staff, aimed to explore and adopt best educational practices.

The benchmarking began with a detailed campus tour guided by the Center for Counseling and Wellness Staff, highlighting facilities such as the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) room, library resources, and specialized laboratories. Noteworthy innovations included a new sewage treatment plant and a water refilling station, emphasizing the host institution’s commitment to sustainable campus infrastructure. Mr. Alejandro P. Pablico, Principal of the SLU BEdS, led the tour, highlighting their dedication to providing modern and conducive learning environments.

The focal point of the visit was an interactive open forum held at the Mini Theater of the Gerard Decaestecker Building. Mr. Pablico provided insights into the organizational structure of the Basic Education School, detailing initiatives such as the Enhanced Curriculum in the Junior High Department, which enhances student research skills, and the integration of Religious and Values Education (RVE) across all educational levels. Discussions also covered the Senior High School’s implementation of the DepEd curriculum with tailored enhancements, particularly in Religious and Values Education (RVE).

Significant attention was given to intervention and remediation programs across elementary and high school levels. Mr. Pablico highlighted ambitious goals such as kindergarten readiness in the Elementary department and peer tutoring initiatives spearheaded by the high school student council. Additionally, discussions underscored the school’s interdisciplinary approach to education and its robust extracurricular programs, including music and athletics, under the MAPEH department.
