SLU CCA to represent the Philippines in 2024 Yi-lan International Children’s Folklore & Folkgame Festival

The Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA) of Saint Louis University (SLU) is set to captivate audiences in the prestigious large-scale 2024 Yi-lan International Children’s Folklore and Folkgame Festival from 3 to 8 August at the Dong-Shan River Water Park in Wujie Township, Yilan County, Taiwan.

Set on the theme “The Amazing MULTIVERSE”, this year’s festival incorporates the concepts of 5G and AI in the exhibitions, performances, games, and exchanges that run from 06 July to 18 August.

Mrs. Normita ‘Bing’ Rio-Pablico, Head of CCA, hopes that this year’s performance will pave the way for even more invitations and opportunities for SLU CCA to participate in future Yi-Lan International Children’s Folklore & Folkgame Festivals and beyond.

On 1 August 2024, the SLU CCA performance group composed of 36 members from the Glee Club, Dance Troupe, Marching Band, Concert Orchestra, including the trainers and coaches, made a courtesy visit on Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, SLU President, who expressed his appreciation and well-wishes.

SLU CCA Performance Repertoire to celebrate rich culture of the Cordillera Region

Known for its world-class diverse performances, the SLU CCA ensemble is set to take the stage in Yilan with lively music and captivating dances that will showcase the vibrant culture of the Cordillera Region of the Philippines.

SLU CCA’s performance repertoire will celebrate ancient rituals such as hunting and harvesting, mimicking the natural world, and offering prayers for divine protection through lively music and captivating dances.

The SLU CCA ensemble for this year’s festival is composed of SLU CCA performers, trainers, coaches, stage manager, and stage manager: Ms. Bing Pablico, CCA Head and Glee Club Trainer; Sherwin Santiago, Choreographer; Marivic Macadaeg, Band Trainer; Ysabela Mae Javier, Orchestra Trainer; Katherine Mae Nobleza, Theater Arts Trainer; and Benedick Bacani, Stage Manager.
