In a heartening display of appreciation and recognition, the Department of Accountancy, jointly with the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, hosted a grand testimonial banquet for the newest Louisian Certified Public Accountants last 6 August 2024. Held at Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, the event gathered educators, reviewees, students, and esteemed guests from P&A Grant Thornton, SGV & Co., Deloitte, Institute of Management Accountants, and PICPA to honor the successes of these individuals. The elegant banquet hall, furnished with modern Barong and Filipiniña-themed decorations, provided a suitable setting for this commemorative event.
The banquet commenced with a warm welcome from Department Head Conrado B. Chan Jr., acknowledging how their hard work and commitment conduced to this milestone. He also emphasized in his opening remarks that this event serves not only as a celebration of their success but also as recognition of their pursuit of excellence and embodiment of the core values of a Louisian.
This address was immediately followed by the distribution of certificates, marking their entrance to the professional world. The grand hall buzzed with pride for the achievement as the newly minted CPAs, adorned with leis, stepped with besuited elegance onto the stage, one after another, to receive their certificates—a tangible testament to their unwavering commitment and exemplary performance.
In reflection of their dedication to the accounting profession and the communities they are about to serve, the passers solemnly took the CPA and PICPA pledge led by Mrs. Noreen M. Lab-as, a faculty of the Department of Accountancy, and Mr. Candido Perez, President of the PICPA Baguio-Benguet-Mountain Province Chapter, respectively.
The highlight of the event emerged when passers once again took the stage to share their heartfelt testimonies, recounting the distinct paths they took to achieve the CPA title. Their narratives were a testament to the transformative nature of the LECPA journey, reminding us that behind every passing score lies tales of deep commitment, perseverance, and growth. While the path leading to this point may be arduous, the renewed sense of purpose that comes with the title is worth fighting for.
The Testimonial Banquet for May 2024 LECPA Passers from Saint Louis University was a resounding success, achieving its goal of celebrating recent accomplishments and serving as a beacon of inspiration for the subsequent batches of LECPA hopefuls. The event effectively highlighted the dedication and hard work of the new CPAs while also providing valuable inspiration and encouragement to those aspiring to follow in their footsteps. It also served as a reminder that success is a collective victory, uplifting the entire professional and academic community and reaffirming shared values and aspirations.
Guided by the four core values of Saint Louis University, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, under the supervision of the Department of Accountancy, conducts such activity to expand the horizons of accountancy students and bolster their development in fulfillment of the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education).
