The School of Engineering and Architecture Honor Society (SEAHS) successfully conducted its Probie Orientation on 09 September 2024 at the Otto Hahn Building H613-A, SLU Main Campus. This event was designed to welcome and orient new members, known as probies, to the organization’s structure, culture, and expectations.
The orientation commenced with the arrival of SEAHS members, officers, advisers, and alumni at 6:00 PM. It was formally opened with a prayer led by a SEAHS Board of Director member. Following this, short opening messages were delivered by the organization’s alumni to inspire the new and current members. The Executive Committee and Board of Director members also introduced themselves to the probies, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
To break the ice and foster a sense of camaraderie, an icebreaker activity was conducted. This interactive session allowed probies to get to know each other and the existing members. Subsequently, a comprehensive discussion on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of SEAHS was held. The Board of Director members provided detailed explanations to ensure that probies understood the organization’s policies and procedures.
The orientation continued with the introduction of various SEAHS committees. This provided probies with a clear understanding of the different roles and responsibilities within the organization. To further engage the probies, discussions on SEAHS activities and traditions were held. These discussions aimed to inspire and motivate probies to actively participate in the organization’s events and uphold its legacy.
As the orientation drew to a close, the SEAHS Board of Director Chairman delivered closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of the event in welcoming new members and fostering a sense of belonging. The orientation concluded with a closing prayer, leaving the probies with a sense of anticipation for their journey as SEAHS members.
The Probie Orientation 2024 was a significant undertaking that aligned with SDG 16, promoting peace and justice. By providing a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s structure, culture, and expectations, the event helped create a welcoming environment for new members and fostered a sense of unity within the SEAHS community.
