The Baguio Association of Government Grantees and Scholars – Saint Louis University (BAGGS) proudly celebrates the meaningful participation of six of its scholars—among twelve total delegates from Saint Louis University (SLU)—in the 2nd National Patriot Scholars Congress (NPSC), held from 3 to 6 September 2024, at The Manor, Camp John Hay, Baguio City. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), this national event brought together over 540 scholars from various institutions across the Philippines under the powerful theme, “United WE Lead.” The congress served as a platform to strengthen patriotism, leadership, and unity among the country’s most promising young minds. It also reinforced the shared goal of scholars contributing meaningfully to the nation’s development through science, innovation, and service.

Over the course of four days, the SLU delegates actively participated in diverse sessions that combined inspiration with hands-on learning. One of the program highlights was the “World Café,” a collaborative forum where scholars presented their organizational achievements and discussed ways to scale their impact. This open exchange of ideas fostered a deeper sense of camaraderie and purpose, enabling participants to network, share best practices, and identify common goals across regions. Such opportunities help student leaders realize that though they come from different backgrounds, their aspirations for national progress are deeply aligned.
Cultural celebration was also a key element of the congress, with delegates showcasing the rich and vibrant heritage of their respective regions. The performances, filled with traditional dances, music, and colorful attire, created an atmosphere of pride and unity. This cultural exchange helped scholars appreciate the diversity that defines the Filipino identity, and emphasized the importance of inclusivity and respect in building a stronger nation. More than just a break from the formal discussions, these moments reminded everyone that culture and heritage are powerful anchors for national pride and solidarity.
As the event concluded, the SLU scholars returned to their campus carrying valuable insights, renewed enthusiasm, and a stronger sense of purpose. The congress was more than just a gathering—it was a transformative journey that equipped the scholars with the knowledge, networks, and motivation to lead with integrity and vision. Their involvement not only highlighted their academic excellence but also their readiness to contribute meaningfully to society. Congratulations to the SLU delegates for actively embodying the essence of “United WE Lead”—a call to action that they are now more prepared than ever to answer.
