The School of Engineering and Architecture Honor Society (SEAHS) successfully conducted its Probie Welcoming on 12 September 2024 at the Otto Hahn Building H614-A, SLU Main Campus. This event introduced new members to the organization and highlighted the importance of their growth and well-being as members. It helps new members expand their connections within the organization and ensures they feel a sense of belonging without any discrimination.
The welcoming event commenced at 6:00 PM with SEAHS members, officers, advisers, and alumni. In total, 62 new members, 25 current members and officers, and 10 alumni attended the event. A SEAHS Board of Directors member formally opened the proceedings with a prayer, followed by a 20-minute orientation before the main welcoming activities began.
The Probie Welcoming 2024 was an important event that aligned with four Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 10 (reduced inequalities), and SDG 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions). By fostering an inclusive environment and promoting equal opportunities, the event demonstrated a commitment to these global objectives.
The event’s attendance, with 62 new members participating, demonstrates its effectiveness in engaging probationary members. The presence of 25 current members and officers, along with 10 alumni, indicates strong support from the existing SEAHS community. Moreover, the positive feedback from participants highlighted their improved understanding of SEAHS’ mission and vision, which serves as a qualitative measure of the event’s impact. Ultimately, its alignment with the four UNSDGs showcases the event’s broader significance in promoting sustainable development principles within the academic community. (Article by Antonette Z.
