Saint Louis University welcomed inbound students from Vietnam and Indonesia for the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher) Project.
Six students from Dong Thap University in Vietnam and Halu-Oleo University in Indonesia namely: Tien Tran, Nhu Vo, Thinh Nguyen, Maemuna, La Ode Muhamad Alwan, and Rian Mutiara, accompanied by SLU Professional Education Department Head Sheila Marie Magat, PhD, paid a courtesy visit to SLU President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD on 03 October 2024. “We’re hoping that you will have enough time to learn and meet a lot of friends here at the University,” Fr. Sales stated.
The inbound students were also oriented on the policies and other matters related to their program. During their orientation, a brief introduction to the food, language, and culture of the Philippines, expectations about SLU, and guidance towards their 20-day stay as students in the university were discussed.
This international student exchange program promotes Saint Louis University’s commitment to developing global partnerships and developing international and intercultural perspectives. As it accepts international students, SLU has also been sending its students to different international schools.
While promoting quality and inclusive education, the project likewise aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). These partnerships enable the University to build its foundation as an institution of higher learning, excellence, and internationalization, and institutional reputation in the ASEAN region.
