The Association of Geodetic Engineering Students (AGES) successfully held its annual Acquaintance Party for the academic year 2024-2025 on 13 October 2024 at the Otto Hahn Building, SLU Main Campus. The event fostered a welcoming environment for new members while strengthening connections among existing ones. Its primary objective was to promote socialization and familiarity within the Geodetic Engineering program. Through engaging activities, students from various year levels had the opportunity to interact and build relationships, potentially fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie within the AGES community.
The event served as a warm welcome for new members entering the Geodetic Engineering program. New students were introduced to the organization’s goals and upcoming activities, providing them an understanding of AGES’ role in their academic journey. The Senior members of AGES shared their experiences and insights which offered guidance and support to newcomers. The organizers also incorporated team-building activities in the event to encourage collaboration and problem-solving skills among the attendees. These exercises provided fun and interactive engagement that mirror the importance of teamwork within the geodetic engineering profession. Through these activities, students may foster stronger bonds with their peers and develop valuable soft skills crucial for their future careers.
Throughout the years, the AGES Acquaintance Party has been a resounding success in achieving its intended goals. It continuously fosters a welcoming atmosphere, encourages student interaction, and provides valuable information about the organization and the geodetic engineering profession. With this, a stronger sense of community and camaraderie has been established within the AGES community. The success of this acquaintance party paves the way for a promising year for AGES, potentially setting a positive tone for upcoming activities and fostering a collaborative environment for students to learn and grow together. This could contribute to the overall development of future geodetic engineers equipped with technical skills and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
The undertaking created a stimulating and interactive learning environment where students could exchange knowledge, ask questions, and gain valuable insights from their peers and seniors. It promoted lifelong learning and a culture of collaboration within the program. Moreover, the acquaintance party reflected CICM’s advocacy for peace by creating an inclusive environment that encourages relationship-building and mutual respect among students.
