Saint Louis University’s (SLU) School of Accountancy, Management, Computing and Information Studies (SAMCIS) hosted its first SAMCIS Food Support Program, titled: Almusal Para sa Lahat on 23 October 2023.
The Almusal Para sa Lahat was a collective effort from the SAMCIS faculty, non-teaching staff, Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) culinary students, and SLU Supreme Student Council SAMCIS assembly. Saranay means to support and serve others. This food support program is an intervention that addresses the need for decent, nutritious food for Louisian students and SAMCIS support services employees.
This initiative showcased hope and generosity for every serving of arroz caldo, a piece of pandesal, and a cup of coffee. The SARANAY Program effectively enlightened students, showing them that there are individuals ready to offer support and solutions for any challenges faced by the Louisians.
On 7 December 2023, the MICE classes of HTM organized a Christmas get-together to honor the SLU SAMCIS support services personnel. The simple yet touching presentations from the janitorial services and guards were the highlight of the event. To show appreciation, the SLU SAMCIS community also generously provided grocery packs to the dedicated support services personnel.
Through this Food Support Program, SLU stays committed to its CICM advocacy of Integrity of Creation and abides to fulfill the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as SLU SAMCIS continues to be a positive change force in the Louisian Community.
