The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – Saint Louis University Chapter (IECEP SLU) proudly represented IECEP Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Student Chapter during the IECEP National Student Summit 2024 held on 14 to 15 November at the Bahay ng Alumni, University of the Philippines – Diliman, Quezon City.
With the theme “Inspiring Excellence: Pioneering Innovations for a Sustainable Future,” the event gathered aspiring electronics engineers from across the nation to showcase their skills and foster innovation for sustainability. The IECEP SLU Chapter competed in two prestigious academic competitions: the Interscholastic Quiz Show and the Elite Electronics Showdown. Talented students from different colleges and universities nationwide came together to compete in rigorous challenges, putting their technical knowledge and expertise, analytical and problem-solving skills, and grasp of electronics engineering concepts to the test.
Despite their diligent preparation and dedication, the IECEP SLU team ultimately faced strong competition and did not secure a victory in either event. Though the IECEP SLU Chapter did not achieve a winning result, their participation was a testament to their commitment to academic growth and professional development.
Christian P. Federe, Christian Sacyat, and Don Mari S. Lanuza performed admirably in the Elite Electronics Showdown, showcasing excellent theory and practice.
Meanwhile, Liaa Jucelle Ferrer, Richard Bachar, Jose Christian Gerard Galande, Karl Vincent Batalon, Roland Jason Oh, and Wyatt Joshua San Diego made up the Interscholastic Quiz Show team, which competed fiercely in an intellectual contest to demonstrate their combined knowledge and teamwork. Although the team had to contend with fierce competition and did not secure a top spot, their participation demonstrated their unwavering will and dedication to academic success.
Adding to the chapter’s achievements, Karyle Tabian, the IECEP CAR Student Chapter President from Saint Louis University, was nominated as one of the country’s Most Outstanding Electronics Engineering Students. This honor reflects the chapter’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership.
Given the outcome, competing at the national level provided an invaluable experience, allowing students to gauge their skills, engage with diverse perspectives, and gain insights into the evolving trends within the field. Moreover, the event fostered camaraderie and collaboration, as students connected with peers from other institutions, building networks that could benefit their future careers. The IECEP National Student Summit 2024 was an enriching platform for the IECEP SLU team, reinforcing their commitment to excellence and resilience as future electronics engineers.
