Saint Louis University welcomed the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), commonly known as Pag-IBIG Fund– through the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA)– for the conduct of its first Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on 20 November 2024 held at the Gevers Hall, SLU Main Campus, Baguio City.
The discussions centered on the services, accomplishments, milestones, innovations, and best practices of Pag-IBIG Fund in relation to its acronym which stands for Pagtutulungan sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industriya at Gobyerno.

The simultaneously live-streamed Kapihan– led by Ilocos Region Area Head, Meriam Pamittan; Members Services Officer III, Samantha Cabico; Head of Ilocos Norte Branch, Philip Raymund Salem; Head of Loan Origination Division, Ferdinand Jacildone; and Head of Marketing & Sales, Imelda Francisco– invited students from the BA Communication program of School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA), teaching and non-teaching staff of SLU, and several local media outlets.



Ms. Pamittan proposed the premise and benefits of the different Pag-IBIG FUND savings and housing loan programs offered among Filipinos such as MP2 Savings, Pag-IBIG Multi-purpose Loan, Pag-IBIG Housing Loan, among others. She expressed the agency’s dedication in supporting the financial and housing plans of Pag-IBIG Fund members through their available programs and services, saying that “we are providing a secured, provident saving system to our members, and at the same time, we are promoting home ownership by providing shelter financing for our borrowers.”
The Pag-IBIG Fund Ilocos Region Head also highlighted the achievements made by the Pag-IBIG Fund Baguio branch and their performance in providing affordable loan services among residents in the City of Baguio.



During the talk, different beneficiaries of Pag-iBIG Fund shared their valuable experiences through the programs they availed. The testimonial seeks to encourage attendees to take proactive steps in financially preparing themselves.





Through this event, SLU continues to maintain its commitment in upholding the CICM advocacy in Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) and pursue the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
