On 19 November 2024, Saint Louis University-Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU-SHMC) affirmed its stance as a leader in healthcare excellence, winning the Level III – Grand Prize of Safe Hospital Award at the 45th Annual National Convention of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPi). The event was held at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel, under the theme “Creating a Culture of Safety: From Prevention to Innovation”.
The aforesaid Award was in recognition of SHMC’s “exemplary dedication to patient safety and commitment to quality healthcare standards, ensuring the highest level of care for all.”
The first PHAPi Safe Hospital Awards 2024 marks a crucial milestone in recognizing healthcare facilities that go beyond providing exceptional, people-centered health services. Hospital Legal Officer Atty. Brian Jonathan Paraan received the award on behalf of SLU-SHMC, representing the collective efforts and dedication of the entire hospital staff in achieving this remarkable feat with the help of the Office of Patient Experience (OPE) in providing supporting documents that demonstrated the hospital’s safety initiatives, outcomes, and continuous improvement efforts.
SLU-SHMC’s achievement not only sets a benchmark for best practices but also reflects the hospital’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety at its best, addressing unsafe conditions through a holistic approach that encompasses clinical and digital solutions. By integrating sustainability, accountability, a focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, teamwork, and placing the patient at the forefront of all initiatives, SLU-SHMC epitomizes a culture of excellence that transcends traditional healthcare boundaries.
SLU-SHMC’s outstanding recognition aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), Good Health and Well-Being. By advocating a culture of safety and embracing the innovative practices, SLU-SHMC is not only contributing to improving the healthcare outcomes but also playing the key role in advancing the global agenda of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
