Saint Louis University (SLU) received a certificate granting the University its Autonomous Status from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during the Awarding Ceremony for the Grant of Autonomous and Deregulated Status to Private Higher Education Institutions on 24 November 2024 held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Executive Assistant to the President Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD and Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance Director Hector Martin received the certificate on behalf of the University.
SLU was granted autonomous status valid until September 2027 through the CHED Memorandum Order No. 07, series of 2024, dated 16 September 2024. The University’s performance and achievements from 01 July 2019 to 15 September 2023 were evaluated according to specific criteria namely: Commitment to Program Excellence; Excellence in Instruction, Scholarly Works, and Community Engagements; and Institutional Quality and Excellence.
The attainment of the autonomous status and award is a testament to SLU’s efforts in strengthening educational standards and maintaining academic excellence, which are aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Quality Education.
