Saint Louis University (SLU) gladly received the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) assessors, led by Chief and Lead Assessor Prem Anand M. Arjunan, for the conduct of the three-day 434th AUN-QA Programme Assessment beginning on 04 February 2025.
“This occasion is not merely a conventional evaluation; it represents a significant milestone in our journey towards academic excellence and global recognition. By engaging in this international assessment, we affirm our commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement across various programs,” said Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD in his welcome remarks during the opening meeting held at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, SLU Main Campus.

A first for the University, the assessment covers the School of Nursing Allied Health and Biological Sciences (SONAHBS) programs namely: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical Laboratory Science, BS in Pharmacy, BS in Nursing, and BS in Radiologic Technology.
The insights that will come out of the assessment shall be deemed as a guide for SLU in refining its curriculum, enhancing its teaching methodologies, and enriching its student experiences. As Fr. Sales added, “Our goal is to equip our graduates with the highest standards of education, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly complex yet interconnected world.”

In the same vein, Vice President for Academic Affairs Feline P. Espique, PhD, mentioned that the assessment visit “showcases the University’s commitment to providing quality education aligned with ASEAN and global standards.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Arjunan, pointing out that the journey of excellence is a continuing one, remarked, “I am glad we can walk this journey together.” He noted that what will transpire for the next few days will be aimed at improvements for the benefit of SLU’s stakeholders

The AUN-QA Chief Assessor also shared some AUN-QA initiatives this 2025 such as their newly revised model for assessment.
Following the opening meeting was the briefing by SONAHBS Dean Ann P. Opina, PhD, and Associate Deans Elizabeth H. Bautista, PhD and Allan Jay C. Espiritu, DrPh. This was followed by the assessment proper.
