Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) exchange student participants Althea Tuvera (BS Social Work) and Janica Vida Gregorio (BA Philosophy), along with Director Stephenie O. Busbus, PhD; SLU’s Executive Assistant to the President, Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD; STELA Dean Mary Pauline E. Namoca, PhD, RPsy, LPT; and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Feline P. Espique, PhD paid a courtesy visit to SLU President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, on 13 February 2025.
Held at the Office of the University President (OUP), the visit was facilitated by the SLU Office of Global Relations and Academic Affairs (OGRAA). They welcomed STELA exchange students who just returned from the Equify Project where they volunteered at Brawijaya University in Malang, East Java, Indonesia.
The students’ journey proudly represented SLU, OGRAA and the Philippines as they ventured with other international volunteer students.
Their six-week stay from 29 December 2024 to 09 February 2025 at Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia allowed them to immerse in various cultural experiences and gain in-depth understanding of local and global concerns focused on inequality.
This initiative is aligned with SLU’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
